I started training at age 50, and now at almost 63 I am living proof that strength training and functional fitness are the best things I can do for my health and well-being. No matter your age, training can make you stronger!

My name is Teresa Terrell. Most people call me T or Coach T. I have lived in Martinsville nearly my whole life, have children and grandchildren who are my world. I want to be healthy and strong not only for myself, but for them. I love being able to move, hike, bike, weight lift. All of it. It builds bonds and life memories. I started coaching when asked by the owner of my previous gym, and I love it. I love helping people meet their goals and showing them the path to a healthier version of themselves, and I love it when it clicks in their heads that they really are strong and can do things they never thought they could. I love seeing kids watching their parents do hard things, and then, next thing you know, the kids are doing it too. It’s a satisfying field, watching people grow.
Linear Approach. I tell my new people that they didn’t get out of shape overnight, and they won’t get in shape overnight. Listen to your body, don’t believe everything you see online, and stay consistent. Of course, nutrition, nutrition, nutrition!
Now that I’m older, I truly love working with people around my age, give or take. I was you. I was 50 and out of shape, didn’t know where to start. All the things that go through our heads. Here I am 10 years later and still going strong. It works if you allow it to.
When I was younger, I taught fitness classes at the YMCA. Then between life and raising kids, I got away from it for years. I was invited to a CrossFit class by a friend at age 50. After she asked me several times, I finally gave in because I needed that change. I could hardly walk up my flight of stairs without being out of breath. Overweight and out of shape, I showed up and was immediately hooked. I wanted to do what I saw those women doing. I was very dedicated and stayed consistent. The coach helped me with nutrition and I never stopped!
